In the state of Georgia’s Glynn County Detention Center, four of our friends await trial stemming from their nonviolent action, on April 4, 2018, at the Naval Submarine Base, Kings Bay. Robert J. Phares, Rest in Peace

Robert J. Phares died today, May 21, 2018, of natural causes, surrounded by his loving wife, Gail Sharon Phares, daughters Rebecca Phares and Lisa (Phares) Outterson and David Outterson, his son-in-law. He was a father, grandfather, husband, and federal worker extraordinaire. He provided kind but honest advice to his family and to many prisoners he visited throughout the past decades. Supporting the closure of the School of Americas and working with that organization as a volunteer was one of his proudest accomplishments. None of us who knew him will forget his smile, quick wit or caring manner.

This is a request that you join distinguished citizens of the world including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, other Nobel laureates and many others by signing our global petition to dismiss all charges against the Kings Bay Plowshares 7.

They face years in prison for exposing illegal and immoral nuclear weapons that threaten all life on Earth. The seven nonviolently and symbolically disarmed the Trident nuclear submarine base at Kings Bay, GA on April 4, 2018, the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. (View KBP7 reading their statement here.)
