Potluck Reception
St. Peter Claver Parish Hall 1526 N. Fremont St. Baltimore MD 21217
On Saturday March 21 the Baltimore peace and justice community will host a potluck reception for Elizabeth McAlister as she makes a return visit to Baltimore. Liz McAlister has spent most of her adult life in Baltimore, and established Jonah House, along with her husband Philip Berrigan, among others, as a West Baltimore community of nonviolent resistance to war and injustice.
McAlister, now age 80, soon faces sentencing for her part in the Kings Bay Plowshares. The Kings Bay Plowshares disarmament action took place at the submarine base in Georgia on April 4, 2018, the fiftieth anniversary of the assassination of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
to denounce the Trident weapon system based there. Liz and her six other codefendants were convicted last fall after a week-long federal trial and will be sentenced this Spring.
We invite you to welcome Liz home to Baltimore, so we might offer our gratitude for a life of commitment to justice and peace.
