Pacific Life Community Annual Gathering, Feb. 28-March 2, near Seattle, WA

February 28, 2020 - March 2, 2020

The 2020 Pacific Life Community gathering will offer nuclear resisters the opportunity to network with Pacific Northwest-based grassroots climate change activists, explore PLC’s deep roots with the Ground Zero Center for Nonviolent Action, and participate in a group action at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor affirming the community’s desire for a nuclear weapons-free future.

There will be an excellent lineup of speakers and panelists on climate, environmental, and nuclear activism, and an opportunity to reflect on the Kings Bay Plowshares 7 action. KBP7 support team member and community organizer Steve Dear will be the keynote speaker on “Building Communities of Resistance and Resilience at 100 Seconds to Midnight.” Other speakers include: Abby Brockway of the Delta 5 and Larry Morrell, executive director of the Sound Defense Alliance, on the environmental threats posed by Growler jets and oil trains; Tacoma-based Plowshares attorney Blake Kremer with legal insights for the activist community; and a panel of activists who attended the KBP7’s trial in Georgia offering their reflections. There will be a screening of The Arms Race Within, a film that explores the foundational beginnings of the Ground Zero Center and the PLC involving Robert and Janet Aldridge as well as James and Shelley Douglass. Music will be provided by the Irthlingz Duo of Orcas Island.

The gathering will take place at Pilgrim Firs retreat facility in Port Orchard, WA. All are welcome!
