Anti Nuclear Activists, Kings Bay Plowshares 7 Respond to U.S. Magistrate Cheesbro’s recommendation that our Motions to Dismiss be denied

The Kings Bay Plowshares 7 defendants received word Friday evening that Magistrate Cheesbro of the Southern District Court of Georgia, recommended that their motions to dismiss the charges including the Religious Freedom Restoration Act argument be denied.  The seven defendants, all Catholics, had testified with expert witnesses during their November 2018 evidentiary hearings and waited fourteen weeks for the final decision.  There is still no trial date set. On Anniversary of Anti-Nuclear Weapons Protest, Plowshares Activists Call for Renewal of Movement, Dismissal of Charges

APRIL 4, 2019 — On the first anniversary of the Kings Bay Plowshares 7 (KBP7) anti-nuclear protest, supporters have launched a global petition calling for the charges against the seven activists to be dismissed and for a renewal of the anti-nuclear weapons movement. Distinguished signers of the petition include Archbishop Desmond Tutu and several other Nobel peace laureates.

This is a request that you join distinguished citizens of the world including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, other Nobel laureates and many others by signing our global petition to dismiss all charges against the Kings Bay Plowshares 7.

They face years in prison for exposing illegal and immoral nuclear weapons that threaten all life on Earth. The seven nonviolently and symbolically disarmed the Trident nuclear submarine base at Kings Bay, GA on April 4, 2018, the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. (View KBP7 reading their statement here.)
