Fr. Steve Kelly to Appear in WA Court Tuesday, April 13, 2021
Supporters Plan to Gather at Courthouse at 10 a.m.
As a reminder, Fr. Steve Kelly, SJ, has been in jail and prison since way back at the KBP7’s arrest on April 5, 2018. Now he goes before a federal magistrate in Tacoma on Tuesday, April 13 in connection with his failure to cooperate with a probation order stemming from a line-crossing action onto Kitsap-Bangor Naval Base in 2017.
Against Steve’s wishes, the hearing is scheduled via Zoom, with the magistrate at the federal courthouse and with Steve in the basement of the same building. There will be a public gathering outside of the courthouse at 1717 Pacific Ave. in Tacoma at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. We invite all who are able and wish to come to do so, bringing your signs of support and resistance, your prayers and masks. The likely outcome of the hearing is unknown, since it is totally dependent on the whims of the magistrate. Steve’s attorney, Blake Kremer, will provide a report of the outcome during our gathering on Tuesday.
